The
International Conference on the History of
Cartography is the only scholarly conference solely dedicated to advancing knowledge of the history of maps and mapmaking, regardless of geographical region, language, period or topic. The conference promotes free and unfettered global cooperation and collaboration among cartographic scholars from any academic discipline, curators, collectors, dealers and institutions through illustrated lectures, presentations, exhibitions, and a social programme. In order to expand awareness of issues and resources, leading educational and cultural institutions sponsors each conference. Conferences are held biennially and are administered by local organizers in conjunction with Imago Mundi Ltd.
For the first time since the start of this conference series in 1964, Denmark will be the host nation. The organizers, in particular the Royal Danish Library and Imago Mundi Ltd, are therefore delighted to invite you to the 23rd International Conference on the History of Cartography (ICHC2009).
Two optional pre-conference meetings have been scheduled for Saturday, July 11:
(1) The biennial meeting of the International Society of Curators of Early Maps (ISCEM).
(2) A session organised by the International Cartographic Association (ICA).
